Rest And Obedience

Lord,

thank you for your rest,

always you call me into a relationship with you,

your commands intentional

to build my trust and faith in you.

Help me Lord,

deliver me from the hamster wheels I create for myself,

that others, the world create for me.

Take me out and deliver me.

Let me find my rest in the warmth of your hand,

holding me, caring for me back to health,

carrying me to the green pastures and quiet waters I’d missed with you.

Let me learn from you who are gentle and humble in heart,

whose yoke is easy and burden is light.

What is your heart Lord?

What do you desire to do through my life?

Forgive me Lord for my striving.

I lay down my will and my plans for yours,

I want to be used by you,

and to shine for your glory alone.

But let me first find rest in you

and do it all, hand-in-hand,

walking side-by-side,

in intimate, sweet relationship with you.

Let it be no other way,

I love you Lord, have your way in me.
