Following Him

Lord,

Thank you for your grace,

for eyes to see,

your presence going before me,

following in your footsteps,

leading me on a journey

that I know

leads only straight into your heart,

though the rest is still a mystery.

I let go of my crutches —

my expectations, assumptions,

my carefully laid plans and controls,

and embrace hope in faith,

trusting you in this adventure.

You’ve called me out of my old life

into a relationship with you,

and I can’t wait to run with my Beloved,

forgetting what is behind,

pressing on towards what lies ahead,

my heavenly reward

in You.

Lord,

thank you that you know me,

you see me,

my anxieties and worries

you bring up like chaff.

Thank you for your Spirit

that blows it all away,

bringing in your presence,

restoring your peace in my soul.

your thoughts towards me

outnumbering all the grains of sand

on the the seashore.

Lord,

thank you for your loving care,

as I follow you,

I trust that you will provide

exactly what I need,

blessing me

Lord,

no presumption,

Lord,

Thank you that my life is in your hands.

I can shake off the burdens of my past,

the regrets and failures,

trusting you will work all things for my good,

and reveal to me the treasures hidden in darkness.

I praise you for your wisdom, discernment,

and counsel dispensed into my spirit,

your molding, pruning, and stretching;

forging me in your continuous flame of love

as I am being created in your image.

I forget what is behind,

you clear my vision for what lies ahead.

No more shadows looming in the future,

or expectations and assumptions I should fulfill,

but surrendered and free, I look to you today,

in this moment,

the gift of your presence with me,

let me run with you.

Remembering Queen Esther

Lord,

I praise your for your hand

in and through Esther’s story.

I praise you for resounding victory

through her life,

your absolute care and provision for your people.

You took an orphan,

a hated minority,

one caught in the pressures and confusion

of idolatry, societal pressures,

envy, competition, and secrecy,

and made her a victor for your glory.

I praise you for your spirit within her,

deliverance from her trauma and loss,

the faith and boldness you granted her,

the words you placed in her mouth,

and the courage you gave her to act and speak.

I praise you for your mighty deliverance

of the Jewish people,

again and again,

your are faithful forevermore.

Let me be like Esther,

entrusting myself in your hands,

offering my identity, life, and circumstances

as a willing sacrifice in love

to be used by you,

and give you all the glory.

My Rest

Lord,

I have everything I need in you.

You sustain my heart,

refresh my soul,

keep me in perfect peace,

as my thoughts alight on you.

You are rest,

and I enter your presence,

grateful for your blood

that has washed away all my sin,

and speaks a better word

over every accusation,

judgement, and condemnation.

You are my refuge

and my tower of strength.

There’s no other place I’d rather be,

I praise you.

Water My Roots

Lord,

Thank you for your Word

that teaches, rebukes, corrects,

and trains up in righteousness.

I ask you for a greater hunger and thirst for your Word.

Increase your spirit of wisdom and revelation upon my heart

that I would know you rightly.

Meet me and encounter my heart,

convict and transform me.

Water my roots so that

I may have a strong foundation of righteousness in you.

Please send the right teachers in the right season

that I may receive all that you have for me,

and grow in the ways that you’ve called.

Align me with those you’d call me to pour into.

I bless you and praise you for your Word of life

that brings comfort, strength, healing, and godly training

unto a blessed life.

Armor Of God

Lord,

Strengthen me in you,

let me be empowered

knowing your Spirit dwells within me.

Teach me, show me, help me

to put on and stand in the full armor of God.

When the darkness presses in,

and the schemes, wiles, and deceits of the evil one.

Grant me success and victory,

standing firm with an overcoming spirit,

immovable and absolutely ready,

filled with power, love, and a sound mind.

Grant me an upright heart as my breastplate,

truth, courage, and integrity to bind around my waist,

feet quick to run with the good news,

hoisting up a shield of faith,

to extinguish the fiery arrows of the enemy.

Let me put on the helmet of salvation

wield the sword of your Spirit,

thinking upon your beautiful works,

testifying of your Truth.

Fill me with a spirit of prayer,

alert, active, discerning, persevering,

passionate in my requests,

so that your presence may be with me,

your power at work all around,

and that heaven may come upon earth.
