Help Me To Love

Lord,

Thank you for your love for me

as my Bridegroom, Brother, and Friend,

showing me the eternal, perfect love of my Father.

Thank you for your ever-present help,

your loving-kindness, your faithfulness,

and goodness to me.

Would you remove every obstacle

that blinds me from knowing your love?

Would you bring down my pride,

self-righteousness, independence

that would keep me from humbly receiving,

what I so desperately need,

what the depths of my soul cry out for.

Show me,

give me eyes to see my soul

the way you see.

The brokenness I have pushed down,

past failures, regrets, shame,

sadness, wounds, and guilt

I’ve never brought to your feet,

not knowing, unaware,

sometimes just running away and ignoring them.

Yet I acknowledge only you can save,

only your love heals and delivers.

Please touch me with your love again Lord,

refresh me in your presence,

show me how to love myself,

that I may know how to love others

the way you’ve made and called me to.

Transform my heart,

that I may patient, kind,

not jealous, boastful, proud, or demanding my own way.

Let me not be irritable, keeping no record of being wronged. 

Let me rejoice with truth,

never giving up, never losing faith,

always hopeful and enduring in your Spirit and Word.

Lord, I confess I have no ability to be this,

to do this,

so come into my heart and have your way.

Make this beggar rich in you,

a broken clay pot filled with your treasure to share,

a conduit, filled and knowing of your love,

ready to be poured out wherever you call

resting securely in my Master’s hand.

Thank you Lord.

His Goodness

Abba,

I repent of the lie

I’ve believed —

that you are not all good.

How deeply this lie has rooted in me,

since childhood the enemy’s only deceived,

and kept me in unbelief.

Thank you for exposing the lie,

for the years you’ve proven your love to me

… again and again.

and I surrender once more,

my will, my independence,

my desire to defend, avenge,

take ahold of my own life,

and I give it to you.

You know me,

you love me,

and I praise you for your love,

your protection and kindness.

The devil’s a liar,

and I know,

you are so good.

All Is Given

Abba,

thank you that all that I am,

all that I have,

is from you.

My being, my soul,

my breath, my body,

living, moving, active,

my needs met,

my wants in you satisfied,

everything is from you,

sustained through you,

and is for you.

I praise you for you’ve held nothing back,

all that is yours you have given me,

your precious Son,

your open heart,

all the cattle upon the hill,

blessings upon blessings

I have only yet to fathom.

Let me doubt no more

in who I am,

your beloved child,

and in who you are,

my good, good Father,

and I will never lack

for I am yours.

Loved In Transition

Lord,

thank you for your presence with me,

your mercy in this transition,

as I dangle not all that gracefully

from this point to the next,

thank you for holding onto me,

carrying me through each day.

Help me to trust you more,

understanding my heart,

the mixture of anxiety and hope,

dread and anticipation,

fear and excitement,

let me surrender it all to you,

leaning in to trust in you,

good Shepherd, loving Father,

setting my heart to believe, trust, and hope,

that you take me from glory to glory,

and through the valleys in between.

I thank you and bless you Lord.

Gracious Father

Father,

I bless you for revealing yourself to me,

giving me your Son,

drawing me, opening my eyes

by your Holy Spirit,

to see what you have done,

loving this wretch into you holy arms,

buying my soul

at the price of your Son’s blood.

Thank you Father

for the blood of the Lamb

who was slain for me.

Increase my faith Father,

stretch the edges,

push out the boundaries,

give me clear vision,

to truly see you and know you,

that I may love you,

rejoice,

and worship you rightly.

I praise you and thank you,

loving, merciful God,

you are a good, good Father.

Amen.

Clay Vessels

Lord,

Without you,

I’m an empty vessel,

made of dust,

brittle, cracked clay,

empty, dry, and purposeless,

useless for life.

Pour out your Spirit upon me,

fill the empty cavern of my soul,

find my every empty crevice,

bring life to every blood vessel,

energize every cell,

create new life

as my hungry soul meets your dunamis power.

Let waves upon waves of your Spirit,

grace, love, and power

wash upon me.

Give me a new heart,

enlighten, illuminate my mind with your revelation,

invigorate my soul to your will,

activate my body and will for your purposes.

I praise you Lord,

the old has gone,

you have made me a new creation,

and I will forever bless you,

my Maker, my Savior,

Deliverer of my soul.

Loving Father

Father,

you are such a good, good dad.

Thank you for your love,

for creating me,

making me in your image,

unique,

fearfully and wonderfully made.

I’m amazed at your delight,

that my joy and peace would make you happy.

My heart at rest,

not striving anymore,

just being me,

and loving you

with the gifts you’ve given me,

what brings me life and joy…

that you’d delight in that…

thank you.

You’re such a good, good Father.

Let me delight in you,

in the same way,

knowing your heart, personality, character rightly,

loving what you love,

hating what you hate,

just being close,

and enjoying your presence.

Thank you for saving me,

drawing me to your Son

and opening my heart.

I could never have come on my own,

but only by your grace and mercy,

thank you forever.

I love you Father.

Lamb Of God

Lamb of God,

you came down,

innocent, good, holy, pure,

eternal One in fragile skin,

sacrificing your life

for the world,

for me.

Thank you for your blood,

that covers all my sins,

cleansing me,

washing me,

making me new,

delivering me from deserved wrath,

and an eternity in hell,

and giving me new life,

undeserved.

Thank you for the great exchange,

your beautiful life,

holy and pure within me.

I bless you Lord

for all that you have done,

you alone are God,

God of love, merciful kindness,

I worship you in your goodness and grace,

bless your Name.

Uplift My Heart

Lord,

I bless your Name,

for being so close,

your comfort and sweetness

filling my barrenness,

your presence in the midst

of my grief and loss.

Give me an unoffended heart,

cast self pity far from me,

pour out your grace

that I wouldn’t compare

with what isn’t mine,

and instead find true contentment,

resting in your love,

let me bless

even when I feel my lack.

Lord, you are all I need,

I love you and praise your Name.

Receive The Lord

Lord,

with all my heart,

I receive you, welcome you

into my heart, mind, soul, and spirit.

I welcome your beautiful presence,

your sweet light, comfort, joy, and peace,

to flood this dwelling place,

please stay and take residence,

be Lord and Master of this heart.

Fill my heart with trust,

strengthen my faith

to cling to your Name,

rising strong in spirit,

knowing my right, my place in you,

I am a child of God.
