Following Him

Lord,

Thank you for your grace,

for eyes to see,

your presence going before me,

following in your footsteps,

leading me on a journey

that I know

leads only straight into your heart,

though the rest is still a mystery.

I let go of my crutches —

my expectations, assumptions,

my carefully laid plans and controls,

and embrace hope in faith,

trusting you in this adventure.

You’ve called me out of my old life

into a relationship with you,

and I can’t wait to run with my Beloved,

forgetting what is behind,

pressing on towards what lies ahead,

my heavenly reward

in You.

Lord,

you are the good Shepherd,

faithful Servant Leader,

the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

You go before me,

clearing the way ahead,

your Spirit hovering over me,

making my path straight.

Clear my vision to see you,

to hear your voice alone,

and to follow you without hesitation.

Let me enjoy your sweet companionship,

knowing I am yours,

and you are mine,

You are the Light of the world,

Help me to draw close,

Lord,

I hear your Voice saying,

“Follow Me.”

Grant me the grace to come

without hesitation,

forgetting what is behind

and pressing on towards the goal

of your heavenward call before me.

I praise you for the mustard seed of faith,

thank you for strengthening me as I step out,

parting the sea of chaos and confusion,

allowing me to step on dry land,

and hiding me under your talit.

I’m safe and secure with you,

never let me go,

hold onto me

when my strength fails,

and uphold me

to walk in your ways

every step of the way

knowing your staff guards me

and your rod keeps me close.

Faith And Courage

Lord,

thank you that you are with me

as I apply faith to my feet,

stepping into the unknown.

You are my Good Shepherd

who leads, guides, and counsels,

your Spirit already has gone forth

to prepare the way,

you are the Aleph and the Tav

knowing all beginnings and the end.

So I capture the arrows of fear, anxiety, and unbelief

casting them upon you,

and stand upon your Word and Rhema,

you’ve called and I will follow.

You’ve saved me from sin and death,

molding me into a new creation

and set apart to fulfill your purposes,

with you,

glorifying your Name.

You keep my foot from stumbling,

you will not let me put to shame,

you open doors no man can shut,

you shut doors no man can open.

You have plans to prosper me,

not to harm me,

plans to give me a hope and a future.

I will trust in your goodness,

stepping out to answer your call,

intent on obedience,

entrusting the rest to you.

Grant me boldness, courage, and faith

knowing you are with me,

you desire success for me,

and I have no lack in you.

Lord,

as I look back,

memories surfacing,

thoughts, feelings,

people, places,

ghosts and wisps of the past,

reflecting my face,

who I was,

regrets, questions,

passing joys,

disappointments, pain,

gratitude,

faith, hope,

making me who I am today,

I ask you Spirit,

to illuminate my heart,

reflect on this past year,

and show me what you see.

Hold my hand,

and take me on a journey,

to see your silver thread,

weaving in and out throughout my memories,

so that I won’t miss you,

or miss what you are doing,

where you are leading.

Weave your vision in my heart,

along with faith, hope,

courage and love,

guide me into my tomorrow,

and let my footsteps fall

in step with your melody and rhythm,

so that when another year passes,

I’ll look in my reflection,

and see more of you,

and less of me.

Abba,

thank you that you are for me,

you are with me,

you arise on my defense,

you are my avenger.

Let me stand firm in your love,

in faith in what your Son has done,

covering and cleansing me,

making me right before you.

I cast myself into your care.

I ask for your hedge of protection,

your fire wall to surround me,

your hand to cover me,

your talit to hide me.

Rebuke the enemy,

its cloud of accusations,

let the truth of the cross,

the blood of Yeshua

overcome every arrow

and speak a better word.

Release your angelic protection,

that my feet may not stumble,

and I would not shrink back from your call to follow you.

In your Son, I’m beloved,

and have everything I need to do your will.

Help me to walk firmly, unhesitating

in the paths you lead me on,

knowing you provide, you enable,

you empower, you give without reserve

all that I need,

your love and support overabounding,

your grace sufficient,

let me be faithful to you,

that I would fulfill your purpose

in my generation,

not by my strength,

but leaning in, depending on you,

and may you receive all the glory!

Abba,

thank you for your words of life,

your strength, comfort, and encouragement.

Thank you for you still, small,

ever present voice,

deep as the ocean swells,

buoying my heart up

in the midst of the storms

and rain of accusations.

to wrap my heart around your words alone.

Thank you that in Messiah,

I am enough,

I have everything I need in you,

and that your father’s heart

is proud of your daughter

where I can only see failure and regret.

You only ever beckon me forward,

to press in to your promises,

your leading and grace,

through the dark resistant clouds,

your love,

your presence with me

always makes a way.

Lord,

let me be face to face with you

so easy for me to say,

yet difficult to bend my knee and do,

humbling for my pride and independence.

Where I’m on autopilot,

depending on my own strength

please gently remind me of your presence,

that you’re with me,

willing and ready to teach me, train me,

show me, guide me, help me once again,

in better, wiser ways than my own.

Let my heart be open to your instruction,

wrapping around your wisdom and counsel,

inviting your strength and power

leaning on you,

so that I walk in your ways,

and am blessed.

Show me how to talk with you,

partner with you,

do life with you,

and let the distractions melt away,

so that I have dove’s eyes before you.

and receive your full inheritance in me.
