Rise Above

Lord,

thank you that I am exactly where you want me to be,

in the place, position, amongst the people

you have called me.

Forgive me Lord

for asking why for so long,

wanting to run and jump ship,

complaining and grumbling,

living myopic,

for man’s approval,

fleeting acknowledgement,

and missing you this whole time.

I praise you when I’m brought low,

my face turns up to seek you,

I praise you when I’m misunderstood, unseen,

you are the God who sees and knows me,

I praise you when I feel unvalued, overlooked,

my work is for the audience of One.

Give me eyes to see you in this world,

to perceive your kingdom

and to declare your heart and your Words.

Help me to rise above in spirit,

and I will bless your Name always.

Abba,

thank you that you are for me,

you are with me,

you arise on my defense,

you are my avenger.

Let me stand firm in your love,

in faith in what your Son has done,

covering and cleansing me,

making me right before you.

God Who Sustains

Lord,

thank you for the space of your grace,

your presence, your breath

where the world pushes and presses in.

Pursuing God

Lord,

Be my vision,

your Word, a lamp unto my feet,

your Spirit, a sweet, sure guide —

a cloud before me by day,

a pillar of fire by night.

Please guide my steps,

make my path clear,

so my feet will not stumble,

and I do not lose my way.

Grant me wisdom,

place me with

wise counselors who’ve traversed your ancient paths.

Give me discernment and insight,

patience in your timing,

that I may not run ahead,

or lag behind,

but walk with you,

knowing you,

confident in intimacy,

running the race you’ve

uniquely called me to.

Show me when to move

and when to rest,

and let me do both wholly and fully,

growing in my understanding

of my knit and function.

I praise you for your call to follow you.

Help me to cast off all that hinders,

the sin that so easily entangles,

and pursue you,

my reward, my treasure,

God’s Purpose In Me

Lord,

thank you for your hand upon my life,

not letting me go,

thank you for your “no’s,”

your protection from my own desires

that would have let to heartache and misery.

Thank you for your power at work,

drying up my small, unfitting ambitions,

establishing my identity,

instilling your purpose for my function,

my knit… how you made me.

Thank you that despite all my failures,

my meanderings, my weaknesses,

you use all things for my good, for your glory.

Thank you that you desire success for me,

and that ultimately,

my life rests in your loving hands.

Have your way in me,

help me, use me for your glory Lord,

and let me be your success,

being true to you, to myself,

and shining your light.

Sojourners

Lord,

help me to embrace the tension of being in this world

yet living for eternity.

Increase my faith,

let them be pillars within me,

to stand in your spiritual truths,

in the midst of culture’s temptations and my flesh.

Help me to examine my heart again and again

to clearly see and understand what I am truly living for.

Sift up my own deception,

expose my blind spots

where I am living for temporal comfort and gain.

I repent to you where the lines have gotten muddied in me,

and I ask you to cleanse my heart,

renew a right spirit,

grant me your perspective and incentive,

restore joy, peace, and hope

and help me to be steadfast in you.

Let me be ok in the struggle,

with the wrestle,

understanding that this is your call,

to live in your Spirit,

at odds with a world running the other way.

Help me to be wise and save souls,

obeying your voice,

following your instructions,

conducting myself honorably,

submitting my heart to your Word,

that the fruit of the Spirit

would bear witness to this world

of your Light.

Help me Lord,

you are worthy.

Giving Thanks

Lord,

Thank you that you’re with me

in the midst of circumstances

that frustrate, confound, press, and overwhelm,

thank you that I’m not alone.

Help me to zoom out,

expand my perspective,

and rejoice once more

in my eternal salvation,

your love that fills the universe,

and your goodness throughout time.

Thank you for my breath,

my life at this point in history,

your Spirit dwelling inside of me,

and for your goodness throughout my life.

I thank you for your lovingkindness,

your provision and care,

your guidance and counsel,

your encouragement and hope.

I thank you for your discipline,

for your boundaries and order,

for your wisdom and lessons,

hard but good, bringing life.

I thank you for the seeds of life

you’ve planted in me,

identity, healing, and purpose

that slowly bear fruit.

Even when I wander, slip, fall back,

I thank you that you’ll never let go.

I give honor, praise, splendor, and glory to you

who keep me from falling away,

and will present me unblemished and spotless

to Him with triumphant joy and indescribable delight.

Lord,

help me to be present,

taking a moment,

catching a breath,

to remember you’re with me,

and be aware of your Spirit,

knowing I’m loved,

not by what I do,

but by all you’ve done.

Let me be content,

letting go of perfect,

leaning in, being ok,

and making peace with broken places,

letting your light,

your comfort shine through.

Let me serve you rightly,

pursuing you,

living to please you,

with joy, gratitude, and overflow,

simply as me,

no false burdens, guilt, or expectations,

exactly where I’m at…

with my few loaves and fishes,

offering back my gifts to you,

taking care of my small garden plot,

being faithful and diligent

trusting you,

sinking into your grace,

Lord,

I praise you that you thoroughly know me,

and still love me with an everlasting love.

You know my day before me,

my comings and my goings,

the challenges and obstacles ahead.

Lord please go before me,

give me your advantage,

Spirit level my path before me,

smooth out my way

with your peace, comfort, and grace.

Enclose me under your hand,

hem me in behind and before,

command your angels regarding me,

to protect and defend me

that my feet may not stumble

as I walk in your ways.

Give me a pure heart,

wholehearted and single-minded for you,

that I would have a servant’s heart,

working with a spirit of excellence,
