Loved In The Wilderness

Lord,

thank you for your love,

though I’m stained with sin,

you save and deliver me

and call me lovely.

I bless you for taking me into the wilderness,

drying up any source of comfort,

pleasure, and addiction,

exposing hidden sins,

unearthing fears and pain,

breaking up my fragile veneer,

and tending to the sinner,

the mess within

with tenderness, compassion,

gentleness, and lovingkindness.

I praise you Lord of the universe,

you owe me nothing,

I deserve only your wrath,

but that you’d humble yourself,

and woo my heart,

proving your faithfulness again and again,

loving me to surrender,

showing me I’m no longer a slave,

or an orphan, or a broken soul,

but beloved,

a child of God,

whole, healed, complete in you

with nothing to prove,

nothing to give,

except my sacrifice of thanksgiving and praise.

Lover of my soul,

I bless your Name.

Amen.

Secure In God

Lord,

thank you,

you get me,

you know me better than I know myself,

through my images,

visages and projections,

covering up,

diverting away from my sin and grime,

you peel it off,

layer by layer,

a gentle scrub,

a piercing cut,

a healing balm

revealing blood-infused life,

new wineskin,

your spirit resurrecting

the dead within.

You’ve got me,

walking, fumbling

in my new identity,

unsure, uncertain,

but following your voice,

messing up,

getting stuck,

dangling in transition,

but…

your Spirit a powerhouse within,

overcoming, rerouting all my failures,

using all my compost for life abundant,

growing and guiding me,

to live free and strong

from the inside out,

your hand upon me,

you’ll never let me go.

I rest secure in you.

Thank you Lord.

Amen.

A Witness

Abba,

I praise you that you look at the heart,

and not outward appearances.

I thank you for your gaze

that penetrates, sifts up, discerns…

and has love and compassion.

You so loved the world

that you gave your one and only Son

that whoever believes in Him will not perish

but have eternal life.

Grant me your heart and your eyes

to see a hurting world

through the walls, discord, anger, and sin,

the poor in spirit

that your Spirit hovers over,

and calls blessed.

Replenish me with your Spirit

to love from your wells of living water.

Grant me your passion and mercy

to embrace those in pain and suffering,

your strength to not turn away.

Use my hands, my heart, and my life

to be your blessing to whoever and wherever

you’d send me.

Let me witness

and find the kingdom of heaven

in lives touched

and hearts transformed,

by you.

Show me where you are moving Abba,

so that I may place my hand in yours,

and do what you do.

I love you.

Amen.

Walk With Me

Abba,

As I go through my day,

grant me dove’s eyes for you,

an awareness of your presence,

your voice,

your peace,

your heart.

As people cross my path,

bumping into my being,

as circumstances fill the space around me,

use it all to slough off dead soulish skin,

expose the places of my need,

the idols of my choice,

and pour out your lovingkindness, mercy, and compassion,

into my broken matrices,

that I may truly be healed, set free, and whole.

Let me sit and be in your love

in all my glorious mess,

let it be your love and grace that truly transforms and sustains me,

not my disciplines, mantras, and efforts.

Abba I invite you,

come into my day to day,

my step by step,

my breath to breath,

breathe into me,

and empower me to walk with you.

Let me be your companion

just like in the garden.

I love you Abba.

Amen.

New Life

Lord,

I praise you for establishing me in you,

settling the questions of my identity and worth

once and for all in your love and mercy.

I thank you that though I’m nothing,

I’m utterly loved, beloved,

seen, heard, known, understood,

cherished and valued by you,

the King of the universe,

my Creator, my Friend.

I’m a new creation,

the old has gone and the new has come,

and I praise you for my new life ahead

dreamt and purposed by you,

unfolding in greater blessing and light.

I praise you for breaking sin cycles,

reversing curses and generational trauma,

your promises of healing, restoration, and blessings

now flow through barren ground

bringing new life and growth.

I take refuge under your talit,

I am safe and secure in your ways and counsel,

my steps are sure because you go before me,

my life and future are blessed in you.

Thank you Lord of my deliverance and life.

Amen.

Garden Of Life

Lord,

I praise you for my rich inheritance,

Master of the garden of my life.

Beautiful, skilled, able, and loving Designer,

show me your vision, your hope, and your passion

for this garden you’ve called me to steward.

Let me be your companion as you share your dreams with me,

listening for your voice, your counsel, your guidance,

sharing your yoke which is easy and your burden light,

co-laboring with my Beloved

so that you would receive the riches and fruits of your inheritance.

Help me to till and plow the rocky soil,

to pull up the weeds of destruction planted by the enemy,

foxes that would steal, kill, and destroy.

Show me what was never meant to be planted

that must be removed,

heal the soil and revive the ground

the enemy has trampled on, abused, and misused.

Thank your for your rest and healing for certain garden plots,

and for the excitement of planning for others.

Show me what and where you would have me plant,

the lines, the spacing, the depth,

how you would have me nurture, water, and grow.

I praise you for the seedlings, life, and bursts of color,

promises of a beautiful and abundant spring.

Thank you for your wisdom

in reclaiming your pleasant boundary lines around me,

and restoring the broken walls.

Your presence within my garden is life itself,

you are the Rock and foundation, the Living Water, the Source

of all life, strength, power and healing.

I bless your miraculous work of life within me,

that you would receive all the glory and praise

for the transformation within.

Amen.

Sweet Surrender

Lord,

I worship you

God of my surrender,

taking my sticky fears,

washing me with your blood,

granting me a new filter

of love

to see with renewed eyes,

a heart of flesh,

your heart beating in mine,

replacing my stony tablets,

my control

with Spirit and life.

You hear my cries,

untangle me from grasping sins

in a moment,

you hide me under your hand,

deliver me from within,

my shackles loosen without,

my enemies,

now a witness with me,

of your love and mercy,

transforming us both,

healing and making all things,

old things,

right, whole, good,

establishing your truth,

your love,

your light.

You make all things new.

I praise you for your deliverance

and I bless you

precious Lord,

Lord of my salvation.

Amen.

Known By Life

Abba,

Your love overwhelms me,

I’m amazed that you see me,

your child, your own,

a speck of dust,

standing as a separate entity,

before your glorious presence.

You knew the choices of my father, my father’s father,

and my own, made in sin, would lead me

down paths of heartache and bondage.

Yet that you would appoint me to believe,

grant repentance to me that leads to life,

and open my heart to your Son —

I’m in awe of your mercy.

In the midst of my struggles and brokenness,

you cherish, treasure, and dignify me,

and honor my free will and choice.

Lord, you have loved me with an everlasting love,

I bless you for your salvation,

I praise you for your joyous shouts over my life,

your delight in leaning in and hearing my voice,

and answering the movements of my heart.

I am nothing without you,

you make me everything I was meant to be,

you give me life.

God you are so good,

thank you for knowing you, knowing life!

Amen.

Rest Secure

Lord,

I thank you that I can come freely to you,

and lay my tangled self in your loving hands.

I praise you that you know me,

where to begin healing me,

gently touching my heart, shining your light,

speaking truth, and releasing darkness.

You work in ways non-linear,

beyond my comprehension and understanding,

hovering over my chaos and mess,

bringing your order, life, and beauty.

I rest, trusting in your perfect timing,

to bring up the depths of my heart to cleanse,

it was never my duty,

never my work,

to disentangle, scrub, and bring perfection.

You have done it all,

and I humble my heart again

to draw close to you,

and by faith, receive all that you have done for me,

dying for each and every one of my sins,

and giving me in exchange, your perfect, beautiful life.

I rest secure in your love.

I bless you Lord.

Amen.
